About
Teodor Costache
I am a Composer for immersive and interactive media, working at the intersection of music, emerging technology, and education. My work focuses on how sound and music function within real-time systems — from film and games to XR environments — and how these systems shape perception, learning, and creative agency.
I approach technology as a creative and pedagogical medium, not an end in itself. Through hands-on projects ranging from interactive audio systems in Unity and Wwise to AI-assisted learning tools and collaborative platforms, I explore how human–AI interaction can be designed to remain intentional, transparent, and artist-led. I am particularly interested in how creative tools influence decision-making, authorship, and the boundaries between automation and expression.
Alongside my creative practice, I am deeply involved in education and community building. At Berklee College of Music, I mentor students in music theory, screen scoring, and audio technology, and I lead initiatives that foster critical dialogue around AI in music and media. I regularly collaborate with students, faculty, and industry professionals across Berklee, MIT, and the broader Boston creative-technology ecosystem to create spaces for experimentation, learning, and responsible innovation.
My broader goal is to contribute to the design of human-centered creative platforms and learning systems — environments where artists, learners, and communities can engage with emerging technologies without losing agency, authorship, or curiosity. I am motivated by work that bridges disciplines, values process as much as outcomes, and treats creativity as a shared, evolving system.
